FIÚSÍ (FUSCIAS)

FIÚSÍ (FUSCIAS)

A Poem by Raymond Pratt
"

The poem is in the Gaelic language and explores the old Gaelic word (DEORAÍ DÉ) for fuscias with the new Gaelic word (FIÚSÍ) in its spiritual sense

"
Uaireanta,
Nuair a mothaím
Beagán ciall cheannaithe,
Seancaithe leis an domhan,
Ná bhfeicfidh mé fiúsí
Ar coinneál go bogarnach
Ins an aimsir ceathach -- ins an gaoth?
Compórdach, ag glioscarnach,
An roinn caillte o bhFlaithis a
Thar anuas -- a dheoraí lúcháire
Na Deoraí Dé.

Translation...

At times
When I feel a little let down,
Overwhelmed by the world,
Will I not see fuscias
Dangling easily
In the showery weather -- in the wind?
Comfortable, glistening,
The lost part of Heaven
That descended -- His tears of exultation,
The tears of God.
