On Those Terms

On Those Terms

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya
"

a love I could not have

"

On Those Terms

Why such excuses

if your feelings for me are not the same.

Reject me please, let me leave so blue.

At least I know this love will never bloom.

We can stillborn a relationship,

Without the formality’s,

of something that could never be.

After all what can I gain from a heart of stone

That will never bleed when mine is alone.

My door will remain open even if yours is closed

For there are some things we could never have,

Nor keep.

Why cherish, admire or even weep

For a beauty I could never reach.

Author's Note

Mauricio Montoya
This is to the girl in which I wrote the poems (You’re beautiful, Linda Amor and Wishful Love.) I thought, silly me that there was another chance because of something that had happen on new years eve and for a few days there was hope then she shot me down with why it couldn’t be so I wrote this and plan to give her this piece of my mind lol tell me what you think good or bad. Thank you.

Oh dear .. this poem is fact not merely a web of beautiful words.

How sad .. loving another person makes life so very special. Love can be utterly, utterly wonderful but, surely it has to be shared, needs to be a two way feeling to have real value, real staying power.

Maybe, maybe, things will change for the better, who knows what the future holds..

There are some very touching phrases here .. 'After all what can I gain from a heart of stone ~ That will never bleed when mine is alone.'

Love it! I like the fact that you so clearly bring up the fact that people make up excuses for their rejections. As if the excuses make any rejection hurt any less. Beautifully done!

the way you described love being born was at the hopeful gestation stages of any creation; when you used the word "stillborn" it showed me that mother nature was not ready to provide the nourishment of time, effort and willingness to grow this love...timing and effort is everything in mutual lives - a thought provoking piece

I like this poem. At least she was honest with you. There was no deceit so to speak and honesty is always better. It may hurt but not like a lie would later on. This poem flows quite well and the emotions in this piece are clearly conveyed to the reader.

Clarity is important for any relationship and keeping anyone hanging is a very undesired act..You've put your piece of mind as you say and you should let her know..And you said it all in this poem..There's nothing to gain from such a cold person..Your dejection, disappointment strikes out fine with this piece..Good job Mauricio

I agree with marie harrison, unless she wasn't ready to settle down or afraid of getting her heart broken i am very loving and have a loving heart which is very sentive so i feel & understand others hurt but if it where me i wouldn't jump into things i did & i wish i would of did it differently but there is no turning back life throws many storms at us & i am going through mine but if you ever need some one to talk to i am here. but this is a lovely piece even though it is a sad ending. god bless lily
