Don't Feed the Wolf

Don't Feed the Wolf

A Poem by Gabi

Don't feed the wolf.
He will be patient as he lures you into his lap.
With heaven in his eyes
he thinks he's holy, dripping with gold, doused in honey
but he's just washing away the remnants of his last sheep.
He'll hold you close to his heart, paws gentle,
but don't you feed the wolf.
The line of his mouth may be thin, but just behind those lips lies a set of teeth 42 strong.
Incisors grazing your shoulder,
you'll crave his bite
but,
remember as he drags his claws over his heart,
that wolves don't keep promises.
