Not Every

Not Every

A Poem by Tori Heales

Not everything is black and white

Not every battle is a fight

Not every tear is filled with sadness

Not every rant is a sign of madness

Yesterday you surprised me

I was taken back abruptly

Although I've known you years now

Seems I lost track of you somehow

Not every time is about you

Not every wish is for something new

Not every step is moving forward

Not every sign is pointing onward

You are an amazing creation

All minds habitations

Through your eyes is a unique outlook

And in your head there’s a story book

Not every person has inspiration

Not every act is an impersonation

Not every criminal is a sinner

Not every first place goes to a winner

Any person could loose their way

You might not see it but it happens every day

One simple gesture interpreted wrongly

And one simple life is lost solemnly

Not every rich guy has wealth

Not every night stalker has stealth

Not every darkness ends in light

Not every wrong has a right

Each time you look at me

You won’t see what I want you to see

And just because we leave each other

Doesn’t mean we won’t think on one another
