Land of the...

Land of the...

A Poem by ...
"

Do you really think letting them take your guns is going to make YOU any safer? Guns don't kill, people do.

"

We are the Titanic,

America, the "unsinkable"

carrying dreams of freedom to their murky death.

We are the entertainment capital,

a nation full of crisis actors

getting paid to act like zombies

We are the land of the free

obliging our free willed  government

to do exactly as they please

We are the land of the wealthy

buying into all the lies

with a fiat mentality and

complacent, bankrupt hearts.

People with guns kill people is perhaps more accurate.

What's for certain is that it's time we stopped killing and concentrated on enjoying this fragile little blue dot.

I agree :) Thank you for stopping by, dear poet
Pane et circenses writ large here. It's a scourge that affects not just America, but the whole world.

Interesting phrase; 'Guns don't kill, people do.' Mankind has been at war with itself since we first stood upright, I don't suppose to the victim it matters with what instrument they are dispatched and one could argue simple proximate cause for guns, knives, even baseball bats come to that. But in the end, and sad to say, such is our genetic programming, that given the means then an action will always occur.

A thought provoking poem.

Beccy.

lynn, To me this write spoke of the complacency exhibited by people who are able to vote but stay home instead and b***h. My view of gun rights seems irrelevant; there are far bigger f**k-ups being perpetrated by government that need to be addressed. A log jammed congress needs to extract heads from asses and work for the common good. This poem, and your writing? Exemplary as is your usual. Great, thought provoking writing, Bravo!!! take care...dan

You are very welcome.
america is the pinnacle of barbarity and hypocracy, from beginning to present, it's is not gun control that is the issue, more its getting us to believe that we are not safe and that everyone we see is an enemy to be snitched on and watched and feared... yes, a bunch of sheep or lemmings ready and willing to jump off their cliff when ordered too... the problem with guns is that there are too many of them pointing at and killing too many of us unarmed people all over the world... and has become one of those "pursuits of happiness" things.. it has always been ingrained in american culture and romanticized, maybe even more popular than apple pie and mom!! oh and football..

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and poem Lynn..

Nicely expressed...I sit all the way over in Australia but due to the news coverage and stories constantly displayed you have hit this one right on the head.
