A Poem by Taylor Lane
"

classes and girlfriends and mortgages and pills don't leave a lot of time for me

"
in another lifetime we could be happy
the way your words are soft and you understand
and how I’m always left with this warm feeling
I’ve spent days on end trying to remember the sound of your voice
and how it would feel to be wrapped up in you
the little things make me feel as though
maybe just maybe
if our days were different and you weren’t so far off
if you weren’t torn between a love for her and a love for herb
that you could fall in love with me
you say I’m beautiful and you say I’m complex
and I’m like no one that you have ever met
“f**k i can talk to you like no one else
and i want to find out everything about you"
all of the cards are on the table, both yours and mine
you think your scary and you think you’re scarred
but it drives me right into your arms
now your life moves on and i don’t hear much
these circles are spinning out of control
in different directions, you’re letting go
yet i can’t help think of all we could be
if you went out of your way to think of me
but now we’ve hit an expiration date
with no response to queries of fate
i watch you slowly begin to fade
I’m grasping and tumbling trying to make you stay
another gone with no goodbye
tears for weeks but now i can’t cry
I’m getting used to this kind of pain
when those long distance lovers slip away
in my head i see a reality
in which you and i are so happy
my fingers laced around your palm
whispers linger in the air
I see cups of coffee, still warm
and picture myself in your arms
you kiss my lips as a goodbye
but dreams often remain unsatisfied
you and i could fall in love
but life has other plans
