hunter green

hunter green

A Poem by Taylor Lane
"

that color will always make me think of you

"
i let my dreams die and gave up for good
left all alone, this life i understood
i was not meant for love, love was far now from me
ceasing to try
to live and let be
and thus you appeared as my resolve was firm
and tore me apart with no shred of concern
i tried to walk away
i called it quits
but you pulled me in and gave me hope for a chance
a chance i stopped wanting for thought id never have
you made me reopen myself and tore me to shreds
i locked up my heart and threw out the key
and somehow you had found it and unlocked love in me
only to run and leave me all alone
you broke a should broken many times long ago
a soul that had healed and had accepted this fate
a soul that had coped with the solace of being lonesome
someone who was okay being alone at a restaurant
someone who could say “yes just a table for one”
someone who found their own way to have fun
this me who had learned to stay in on weekends
this me who was comfortable having no friends
and you who decided that my heart was to burst
on a whim of your fancy and the green in your shirt
that brings out your eyes and brings me out to you
you tore apart a person who was finally through
you came at a time when love was no more
and tore open the windows and slammed every door
you spun me in circles
and i could feel my head spin
and you set me back down
one more time broken
you robbed that one chance
of hope thrown away
god shatter me with my heart
and leave me to break
empty and destroyed by all thoughts of you
i now i wear that shade of green, because its all i have left of you
