when bruised is worse than broken

when bruised is worse than broken

A Poem by Taylor Lane
"

a break can be set, but some bruises never fade

"
My ribs cage in the wild beast pounding in my chest
And yet they couldn't keep my heart from falling that evening that you left
it cages in the pumping
that comes with the excitement of your name
so how on earth did it open wide for my heart to fall in pain
did you hold the key within
to unlock my misery
but keep myself locked away when you were loving me
not shattered or broken now
but as a muscle it is bruised
black and blue and weakly beating
it still yearns for you
this love that you have stolen
only to throw away
the life now left in tatters
and me begging you to stay
a cold and chill surrounding
ice now fills my veins
my blood is now surrendered
with my heart it fades away
that beast a wounded animal
hidden to try to heal
sore and bruised and left by you
waiting for someone to replace
replace the way i felt with you and the flutter within my chest
replace the way you looked at me, the way you stole my breath
gone with every look at you, stolen with every touch
i loved how you took my breath away
until my lungs gave up
i as now give up on you, and thus quit on myself
the hearts you take the lives you shake
will never regain health
