Lies in Passing

Lies in Passing

A Poem by KeelyJane

Hey, how ya doin'?
What's up?
How ya been?

What's new?
What's  good?
What's happenin'?

Could things be better?
Are you good?
Can't complain?

Better than ever?
So-so?
Same ol' same?

I'm great.
Not too much.
I've been doing just fine.

Nothin' new but the day.
Livin' Life.
Killin' time.

We assume no one cares
so we answer as expected.
Courteous questions
leave the truth neglected.

Lies in passing.
Not caring, just askin'.

I like the flavor that reality leaves on my tongue as I salivate to your truisms in your Lies in Passing!
I tend to remain fleeting when I want to avoid such diminutive confrontations and I am a hard person to miss. No hiding behind a fence pole for me to remain unseen! But, then I do not need much more than a casual inquiry to kick start my mouth if I have already had my coffee! Just sayin'!

Sad, but often true. A lot of people only have time for themselves and their own problems and shoot the s**t like they are just going through the motions, but not really there. Cool way of describing this fact.

Truer words have never been spoken. This is so raw. You are such an amazing talent Keely.

Keely.. my darling you are absolutely right.
In this hurry world we tend to ask these questions to others & sometimes we are encountered with the same type of questions.
As though asking about each others well being has just become a formality to be completed.
We also give the answers that are expected hiding the truth.
I appreciate your efforts on putting this concept so well on paper.

This is good. The short, choppy lines befit the subject and the rhythm is consistent.

Oh I love this. Can't help but think about this when asking or answering those same questions with someone. Such a true poem. Really love and enjoyed this, it rocks.

I wouldnt say they are lies in passing, I would say its a way of speaking about your day. Causual conversation more or less. Overall well done.

I don`t see them as lies.... maybe half-truths. The questions for the main part don`t require answers - they are only acknowledging the validity of the person. Answers are reserved for better acquaintance. The very fact that the poem prompts discussion means it works, Keely. Well done. P.
