Coercion?

Coercion?

A Poem by Victoria Nakis

The flowers in the meadow sway
To the never ceasing winds.
Do you wish to sway flowers?
Or are you forced to,
Whether you wish to or not?

You seem so serene, flowers,
There's no way you could be suffering.
Something so beautiful must be at peace.
But that's a lie, isn't it poor flowers?
No one ever stopped to ask you, did they?

What would you say flowers?
If you could peak would you speak of happiness,
Or would you express a terrible sadness?
Do you even wish to fight the winds?
Maybe it turns out that you really don't care.

It could be that you wouldn't say anything at all.
But why wouldn't you speak flowers?
Could it be that it's just a way of life for you.
Always being forced to do as the winds command?
Or maybe not being forced at all.

Unfortunately for you flowers, we won't ever know.
Unfortunately for you flowers, we won't ever hear you.
Unfortunately for you flowers, you can't even speak.
Unfortunately for you flowers, no one even cares.
But fortunately for you flowers, you'll die soon enough anyways.

About
My name is Victoria. I've lost touch with writing lately, but it's always been a passion. It's my favorite outlet when the feelings I have can't be contained. I'm not particularly good at poetry.. more..
