Move On

Move On

A Poem by Laura Ex

Heartbreak is simple
When it’s a one sided story
Especially since you’re not breaking at all
I’m glad you don’t hurt
Or I’d hurt even more
That means this’ll work
It allows me to scar
A little quicker
And heal a little faster
Just so long as you don’t shatter like me
Just so long as my shattering is unseen
The bites they itch
Pink and swollen
I’m too much of this touchy flesh
Wounds come with you from the womb
It’s all the mess that god couldn’t consume
And bear with him on the cross
I’d be the martyr if your life was the cost
That way I’d ensure your survival and love
Love for all others and you can move on
