Acclimation

Acclimation

A Poem by Laura Ex

Heavy shoulders
Weight hurts
Moving sleeping
All the same
I can’t do either
And I can’t see
Vision blurry
Heart hurting
Current condition?
Hopeless helpless
Reckless
Ache
Aching
Hurts
Hurting
Pain
Painful
Life.
Words do not explain
The absolute agony
Anguish
Both physical and mental
Torment torture
Hatred
Malignant claws
Of mine own body
Bred to breed
Hatred.
Tightness of breath
Tightness of chest
My ribs have become
A railroad track
For two tons of steel to run over
At immense speed
Twisting my lungs
Until almost penetrable
Punctured by the click click snap
The rip rip break
The tear tear f**k.
I’m bruised all the way up
Ankle to thigh
Stomache to chest
Neck to cheek
I want nothing more
Than simple regurgitated
Ribs
Each bone visible
To my eye only
Hidden under baggy eyes
Hoodies too
F**k THIS
Bang my head against the wall
Take 6 sleeping pills tonight
