Blow-dried Tears

Blow-dried Tears

A Poem by Laura Ex

Blowing the tear drops down my face with a hair dryer
To see which one will reach the bottom of my cheek first
Which one will drip drop to the ground or imprint itself in my shirt
Hope flutters too easy in this chest of mine
And chills make their way too fast up my spine
This world is too full of so many people
When I myself am so confused and lost
How can I ask directions to the wreck
When it's been inside me all along
I feel hints of envy now
Imagine if you were taken
How happy you'd be
How glad I'd be for you
And how much I'd hate myself
Because covetousness would most definitely show
And I have no shirts to match the shade it is
And I have no tears to match how much it will hurt
And this is what I also have done
And continue to do
