Sit Hope Crush Cold: Winter's Raging On

Sit Hope Crush Cold: Winter's Raging On

A Poem by Laura Ex

Time ticks slowly by
I put my earbuds in one by one
Look outside at the white-out sky
And smile; yet still I'm unsatisfied
A shadow rolls across my page
My heart skips a beat, hoping
It's you
Should've stopped, not skipped
Because you weren't there
Turn my music up, drowning out hope
Wiping the smile off my face as
New buds spring from the earth
Through clumpy crystal snow
Like the wisp of movement
I feel in the air, emerging with
Another beat-skipper
Should've realized
Winter's not over yet
