Eyes

Eyes

A Poem by unspoken_vocabulary

I once held the green in my palms.

I cherished it,

And I cared for it.

My mistake it was,

For it did not last long.

I hung to it tightly, as if it was my own life...

But the green eventually faded, and it turned

Red of rage, and blue of loneliness. Purple

Of fear, and pink of lust.

Your eyes were precious to me.

They were the stars to my sky,

The sun to my moon,

And the rain to my day.

We were inseparable

But as you saw the real me, you changed.

You were distant. Cold.

You left me, for being myself.

And with that,

I held my breath and

Drowned in my tears…

For they were caused by you,

And I couldn’t bear the thought

Of you being the cause of my destruction.

The pink, the purple, the moon, the sun...words you used that really brought this poem to life! Great line breaks and amazing choice of words. You gave a very colorful image of nature which reflected many other things. I liked the ending too... very glad I read this :)
