Contractions

Contractions

A Poem by A Stranger's Tale

For all your troubled thoughts
Among the silence that you keep
In the darkness amidst the cold
Your tired eyes; from lack of sleep
I cannot help but be here
Into the dark blue abyss
where you might be tossed and thrown
my arms will paddle fast and quick
that you won't drown and die alone
It's not so simple to keep you sane
with violent screams in your head
It's hard not to surrender
when you prefer yourself, dead
A cyclone of emotion swings
descending upon your path
for all the gods that don't exist
this is their wishful wrath
And I will battle your torturous demons
and wrestle them to ground
even if it allows you to rest your eyes
I'll exist till I cannot be found
For life is short and we've both seen
how jigsaw puzzles can be tiles
You only need walk a bit further
And I'll crawl the thousand miles
That one day, sometime in spring
May your night terrors come to past
My happiness is not the key
It's yours; that I hope will last.
