Ruins

A Poem by RJM
"

Lessons of the past are for all

"
RUINS
A silent witness
to the days of old
An empty monument
to the Kings of lore
A testament to the glory of man
and to the brutality of glory
A symbol to the cycle of empires
and civilizations, turning on and on
Everything ends,everything falls
all it takes is time

This reminds me very much of Shelley's "Ozymandias"...the same theme, at least. Poets have remarked upon it since time began in print...in art, they call it "vanitas" or translated, vanity...but it has to do with the passing of time, entropy and decay...etc. I really enjoyed your piece on this timeless subject. 100% from me. :o)

The poem state a true fact. Everything will end. Great government will fall usually due to forgetting to take care of people and budget. A powerful poem.
