Dear Dad

Dear Dad

A Poem by MrsCullen713
"

I wrote this poem a few years back in 8th grade for my writing class. I intended on actually giving it to my dad, but I chickened out. It's one of my favorite poems by me.

Dear Dad
You must be blind
At least you act like it
Your problems aren't just yours anymore
they're mine now
I carry a weight on my shoulders
that doesn't belong to me
It hurts when you stand me up
It's like you forget about me
Have you seen my face
when I smell alcohol on your breath?
It hurts to see
such a good man
go so wrong
Bribes don't work anymore,dad
I see why mom left you
You talk about how you loved her and still do
But you sure as hell didn't show it
Can't you see what you've done to me?
What I may inherit?
But, for some reason
I keep forgiving you
for all the things you put me through
More than enough chances
What happened to three strikes, you're out?
I love you dad,
I really do
But what you do to me
doesn't show you love me, too.

About
My name is Dani and I'm 17. Ever since grade school, I've been writing. At first, I started with stupid little short stories, ones that never made sense, but then I began to grow. I began writing long.. more..
