An inspirational story of life advice for a fisherman

"

While strolling along the Asian sea-coast village, in his favorite Lamborghini car, Ernst Joni, a corporate executive from a software company, saw a young man putting away his catch of fish for the day. He complimented the young fisherman on the quality of his catch.  With little acknowledgement to Ernst statement, he continued wiping the sea water on the side of his car.  Ernst immediately knew that the young man is very concern about his car.  So, Ernst Joni changed to car talk.  He then, complimented, on how nice the maintenance of the car is, being a car enthusiast, himself.  Eventually he got the young fisherman’s attention.  As the conversation went on, Ernst found out that this young man had potentials for success, but was not maximizing it to its full potentials.  He asked;

 “How long did it take you to get all those fish?” he asked.

“Not very long,” answered the guy.  “An hour or two.”

“Then why didn’t you stay out longer to catch more?”

Shrugging, the Asian explained that his catch was sufficient to meet his needs, and those of his family.

The executive asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a nap with my wife.  In the evening, I go to the village to see my friends, dance a little, play and sing songs.  I have a full life.”

Without any hesitations  Ernst said, “Well I have an MBA from Harvard and I’m sure I can help you.  You should start by fishing longer every day.  You’ll catch extra fish that you can sell.  With the revenue, you can buy a bigger boat.  With the extra money the larger boat will bring you, you can buy a second boat and a third one, and so on, until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.  Instead of selling your fish to a middleman, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant.

You can ship fish to markets all around the world.  In time, you can then move to New York City to direct your huge enterprise.”

“How long would that take?” asked the Asian

“Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years,” replied the executive.

“And after that?”

“When your business gets really big, you can sell stock and make millions!” exclaimed the executive with zeal.

“Millions? Really? And after that?”

After that you’ll be able to retire, live in a small village near the coast, sleep late, play with your grandchildren, catch a few fish, take a nap with your wife, and spend your evenings singing, dancing, and playing with your friends.”

Soon the young fisherman realized, so much time is wasted.  He was sad to know that so much can be done and he can go further in life if he had managed his life and time properly.  Ernst said, that people can be more remarkable, if they start thinking that they can do things.  When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success

The young fisherman thanked Ernst Joni, for his inspiring thoughts, and later he found out that he is a member of the IAM Group Limited Ltd.  Japan Yokohama - International Association of Managers.  IAM Group Limited Ltd Japan Yokohama Singapore to BK Thailand is a group of Managers worldwide with collaboration of their experiences to serve as inspiration for the aspiring managers.

With these inspiration in life, the young fisherman went home and discussed all his plans to his family and determined not to waste any more of his time and energy to be able to succeed more in life.
