shari

shari

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

this is about one of my best friends whose light burnt out way too soon.

"

                      SHARI
You took my hand and spared a smile,
For someone ,who though older,
Was by no means wiser,
You, an angel among phantoms,
With a heart made of gold,
Deserved a life that was longer ,
Than that which you were granted.

Beautiful as all brides are wont to be,
I watched you start another chapter,
Of a life that  was destined for despair,
I watched helpless as the fates lovingly,
Caressed the thread of your life,
And then without  warning snipped it apart.

Leaving those left behind,
Broken and bleeding from their vile treachery,
Your parents screamed ,
To any diety in any religion,
Who had an ear for a praying soul,
To return to them what was theirs.

Only to be left with memories that had a razor edge,
That made them bleed and left them ravaged,
Their own emotions ,like that of any traitor,
Hid in the dark waiting to strike when they least expected,
Now we realize that one soo good had no place in this wretched existance,
And placate ourselves  with this knowledge.

Shari, though taken far too soon, is in a better place though we do not always see it that way. I also believe that some are taken as this as it is their time to pass on to an eternity of everlasting love and beauty! It is so difficult for us to understand and we do often cry out to the Heavens and ask why, but we do not get answers back - only emptiness and feelings of loss for our loved one. I am far too familiar with death of those taken too soon so I can really relate to your poignant and heartfelt words!! She was indeed so loved by you!!
We carry on with the love we had for them and honor their memory with this love!!

Welcum and thnx. I am flattered, really:-P
Memories do have a razor edge and they cut when we least expect them to. When a life is taken at a young age, there are always unanswered questions. From your poem, I gather your friend had married before she passed away. So brutally sad. I know you must miss her terribly as well. They say those who are taken back to heaven are needed as angels. Perhaps that is what happened to your beloved friend. I am sorry for your loss. Your heartfelt words are velvety soft and honest. Lydi**
