I live

I live

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Being knocked down does not mean you should stay down

"

     I LIVE

I live with my scars,
A poignant reminder of the pain you have wrought,
In the name of love you tore me to shreds
With every precise incision you rendered me broken.
Punishment for daring to fly to close to the sun.

I live with my distrust,
Because it is my armour,
In a world that is rife with thorns,
I was so young to learn ,
Exactly what a smile could hide.

I live with my regrets,
That were sired by your betrayal,
Regret that I was'nt wiser,
Regret that i didn't percieve your smile as a guise,
Before I followed you blindly to be burnt at the stake.

I live proudly with my triumph,
Over your relentless need to break me,
I soar high now basking in the sun,

Too thick skinned to be scorched,
Too much older to ever be that naive again.

Yup! Your right, every-thing teaches us a new and new lesson of the life whether with the worst time or the good but it's foresure that everything what time brings in life is what that helps us in future dealing with the situations right... because every second brings happiness and the funniest thing is that it also brings the sadness too so, it's all on us how we deal with it and live with it, accept it in our life to live the life with peace because "peace is not what that comes easily in everyone's life, it takes time and times takes moments and moments brings memories and the memories always make life."

This write's, am damn sure, comes out from your real life, I can feel the feelings of yours that's transformed into the words. I hope everything's cool there. It's seemed you've passed through much pain and regrets in your life because such kinda pieces only those one can write who come passed through such kinda worst situations.

May God bless you!

Yes people are mean sometimes,Thank you Anna :)
This was captivating till the end. The story-like structure of the poem also works very well. The transition from victim to conqueror of our downs in life is in itself a virtuous thing. Refusing to fall, but instead, rise higher than you ever were before,is the ultimate spirit that can make you a survivor. You made a mistake in one line
'Punishment for daring to fly to close to the sun.'
Lovely poem. You have taken a very depressing experience and coverted it into unrivalled strength which has given birth to an amazing work. The last stanza really spoke to me. Good job. :-)

Thank you so much
I totally agree that each experience teaches us something and that pain does get us ready for stronger storms that wait on the horizon...and ultimately we should never give up.

I loved the last line although the whole poem is good and full of wisdom, it is true that being knocked down doesn't mean we stay down.

So very telling is this piece. Started out weak and gained strength by the ending and is so well written. Be strong my friend...touch the sun and laugh at those below that has said you never could...very cool indeed.

Yeah yeah I know for sure :)
How tragic, Icarus's sin, or rather fault, was hubris, not so much mere curiosity. It is a sad thing, to feel that trying to love and understand someone is hubris. As you get older, no doubt you will cease to feel like Icarus falling to his death; and more like Daedalus, forced to watch others fall with your own device; a fate every bit as tragic.
