Today

Today

A Poem by Tara

..

Today
Current mood:  melancholy

..

Today I replaced every white light bulb in my home with a colored one.

I felt the need for warmth.

Today I opened every window in my home.

I felt the need for cold crisp air.

Today I watched every comedic film I own.

I felt the need for a stream of tears.

Today I painted poetic verses on my bedroom walls.

I felt the need for inspiration.

Tomorrow I will hug the gravestone of my father.

I will read him my poetry.

I will tell him goodbye

Like I do every year at this time.

It is my annual redemption

For not saying goodbye

When I had the chance.

Tomorrow I will shed tears

And hope they will cleanse the regret

For another year.

Filling your needs today is a great reminder of the old cliche' "Life's too short"..
I can relate to your regret of losing a dad... I say goodbye to Dad when I look
in the mirror ... Reading poetry to him is a great way to connect with your father..
I think I'll try it...Loved the poem ... Especially: "Today I painted poetic verses on my bedroom walls.
I felt the need for inspiration." ...Thanks for sharing!!!

Another excellent write..
This one especially resonated with me as my daddy was the one who always told me to share my words with others. I never did until after his passing..
Beautiful write here, Tara.

trying to find yourself, or your soul and love can be very difficult. this feels like a pure cleansing, neutralizing the differences in life through now and into the future. Excelent work!

Soul searching reflection with regrets, remorse and renewal. Wonderful introspection.

Ahh, a spiritual spring cleaning. This had a pleasant, lyrical feel to it. The contrast of today/present and tomorrow/past was crafted well and conveyed the sense of renewal.
