Storms

Storms

A Poem by Alice Kaparelli

As I sit on my porch

I watch the storm

Icy and blustery

I can't help but wonder why

Life must be this way.

Why the clouds in my mind

Create the spinning cyclones

That rattle my unstable emotions.

The horrendous hurricanes

That shatter the glassy heavens

And slash the fragile blue sky,

They're so easy to bypass

But the tornadoes that tear my soul

and lacerate my heart

Are impossible to elude.

Maybe any ideas on how to change the line "life must be this way"

I really liked the words you used to describe your despondence. The fact that you used the analogy of natural disasters to bring across your pain works in your favour. I like your last 7-lines, I thought they were well put together. Maybe you can change "life must be this way" to "sorrow reigns over my spirit". I dunno, it just came to me. Not sure of your likes and dislikes when it comes to poetry. Good write overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. These poems resonate with me anyway so I have no choice but to be enamoured by them. :)
