Infinite Storms

Infinite Storms

A Poem by Alice Kaparelli

Frigid winds of stereotypes and opinions

Blows threatening to freeze happiness

Inhibiting the heart's only comfort

Crushing self esteem into pulp

Icy rain contrives doubt within the soul

The minuscule droplets of cruel chatter

Pinpricks deepening, evolving to gashes

Tearing and clawing at confidence

Rustling of the spindly branches in the wind

Eyes, mouths, teeth flying every which way

Spitting their degrading criticisms

Caught in a tornado of bloody hatred

The elements attack from all directions

Thrusting agony deep inside the heart

This type of cyclone never ends

A tempest that lasts an eternity

Good write! your economy of words is good. I like the concept also;the analogy of verbal cruelty to storms. I particularly liked your 2nd stanza, your descriptive words therein does well to conjure feelings of hurt.
