Editors and readers are so far out of touch it is almost unbelievable. At the moment they seem only to consider free form despite their comments about rhythm and ryhme. Poetry competions on the whole are scams and will publish anything to extract money from hopeful writers Ithink the way ahead is self publishingFor myself I am quite happy with the feedback I get from readers on the net No body grows rich from writing poetry.Having said all that I enjoyed your poem
i must say that it is riddiculous! they are asking of you to remove what makes it good, unike, poetry! kudos to you! and no matter what the rejection letters say, keep writing!
i have to say that i feel that big company's don't like to risk things, they have forgotten that risk is what got them to be big in the first place.....
i love the whole part that says the poem has to be left aligned, and that centered looks ametureish, and that you still centered your poem! way to rebel!
this would only make me more determend to gain entry! still to resieve a letter like that can be crushing!! but the fact that they only want poems that rhyme in totaly obsered. look at Poe's writings. not all of his works rhyme and he was comsidered one of the greats. so i would say "up yours" to them and enter ells where.
Ha, wow, I'm sorry but that's pretty sad for someone in real life to say that. Readers aren't sensitive to raw emotion, that is how you show the feelings in your poem.
I thought this was wonderful. Anyone who has received a rejection letter can certainly appreciate the sentiment here. Even JK Rowling and Dr. Seuss received rejection letters, so in my estimation, we are in good company. LOL Made me laugh, and I love to laugh. Thanks!
This made me laugh, then, giggle! The phrases you use are so near the truth, well, they are. You've listed them in a poetic way, with metre that almost defies the rules, but, not quite. I like this very much
