Distopia

Distopia

A Poem by Vlazuvius

Pop Culture meets the body Politic

"

Bob Marley's Estate is fighting to keep the legend's songs from becoming ringtones.  They might not win, but at least they remembered to fight.  Jimi Hendrix rolls in his grave as his likeness is used to hawk energy drinks and vodka.  Bob Dylan and Paul Mcartney collect checks from Starbucks.

It appears the cultural revolution of the sixties was a phyric victory at best.

We've got the sex but not the free love.
We still take the drugs but forget to expand our conciousness.
Rolling Stone is just another brand.
No wonder Hunter S. Thomspon shot himself.  The Man has bought up the loose scraps of Utopia, and like a vampire he's feasted upon it's meaning, so he can sell you an image of revolution, but not it's fabric.

Do John Lennon's words mean as much when you buy them from Wal-Mart?
