Crash and Burn

Crash and Burn

A Poem by Vinyl Ottoman Sr
"

A little lesson

"

Fingers reach for emptiness

Point inside the mirror

Ignore the feelings you have felt

Let the chaos steer

The road is growing narrower

The lines begin to blur

If everything you said was true

Why did this occur?

Crash and burn

Crash and burn

You’ll never, ever learn.

Crash and burn.

Headlights die out in the dusk

Nothing looks the same

Broken down, your shadow sits

Anchored in the shame

The path that smelled of sweetest rose

Was just a bed of thorns

Spiking through your wheels again

Painful as it warns

Crash and burn

Crash and burn

You’ll never, ever learn

Crash and burn

Another regret spins its wheels

Drives into the night

Mixed up by the drowning thoughts

Shortcuts bloom in sight

Will these visions ever fade?

Stop and clear your head

Think of where your heart would lead

Choose that path instead

Don’t crash and burn

Crash and burn

Crash and burn

Swear you won’t return

Don’t crash and burn
