Shadowed Time

A free verse poem

From the corners of my mind

Evoked images of a passion

Admired and inflamed

Time smothered, with envy and distrust

Shadow lingered in remembrance

Embers wait, still slightly aglow

Reminiscent of a love past

Thoughts of what could be

Implicit, misplaced lust

Reflected in each sassy sway

Induce questions and action

Seen in each passing eye

A true renaissance man

On a revitalized stroll

Through past images

While time walks with patience

Will love be the destiny?

This renaissance (literally meaning 'rebirth') man is stoked into life by lust filled recollection of an ex lover. He travels to the past in order to move forward into the future. The lack of punctuation in the poem serves this free movement between past, present and future. My one slight criticism is the poem kicking off with the cliche of corners of my mind, especially when the rest of the piece is so vividly fresh.
