101 Searching For One Day

101 Searching For One Day

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs

I wanted to see the blue sky
But there are dark clouds instead
Blocking out the shining Sun
The heat taking away by the cold

So I took a walk to the river
Throwing stones in the water
The anger raging up inside me
And I scream out to the World
"Why can't I have one day"?

I wanted to hear the birds sing
The wind was keeping them away
If only I heard their beautiful chorus
But the howl was making them silent

So I took a walk to the broken down mill
Kicked at the crumbling down wall
Taking out all of my frustration
And I shout out to a deaf planet
"Why can't I have one day"?

I thought of the woman that I love
Of the time when we will be together
Even though the days seem like years
Before I can be with her once again

So I took a walk through my dreams
Where I knew she would be waiting
Ridding these troubles in my head
And I say to her a promise to keep
"We will be together again one day"

the way this flowed from one want to another was absolutely flawless. the imagery emotion and desires are beautifully expressed. the ending is a perfect and seamless fit, as it seems that sometimes we have to go inside ourselves to get what we want...even if it is a fleeting dream

Beautifully said Chris.. when you can't be physically together you can be comforted in knowing that your two souls are forever entwined and waiting..xxx

This is really good, I love the repetetion throughout the poem, and I was drawn in from the beginning because straight away you got me thinking 'why one day? what would this day consist of?' and then it became clearer as I read on.

Great write :)
Yours faithfully,
Jenny :) x
