105 Tell Me Why

105 Tell Me Why

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs

Tell me why

Some look down

And treat others

Like a nonentity

Only just because

They are different

And after all

We are human

We bleed blood

We have feelings

All the same

On this planet

Tell me why

Richer get richer

Poor get poorer

Those in power

Do they laugh

At the suffering

Shouldn't we care

Of fellow man

That need us

In their need

Or must we

Turn our backs

Tell me why

Only the poets

Open their eyes

Share their words

And they are

Still never heard

Brothers and sister

All fellow comrades

United in writing

Sharing their feelings

So I say

I hear you

"Tell me why/Only the poets/Open their eyes/Share their words/And they are/Still never heard" I love this bit, as well as the final line. Yourmessage is a deeply beautiful one, nitpicking at the downsides of the world, and the last line rounds it off perfectly with the tiny promise of hope. Well done :)

Oh how I'd like to know the answers, too. A brave poem standing up and questioning the pitiful reality of our mad world through art. I love it. :)

Until each person lives to be the change they want to see in the world, only the visionaries, like poets and artists, will be troubled by the darkness in society. Humans tend to fear what they do not understand or refuse to accept as a possibility within themselves. Excellent wordcrafting Chris! An instant favorite for me.

Because there's a perfect place in heaven for all the good people who are suffering in this life, and it's worth waiting for.

Peace :)

I’m not a child ~
To have been born of this world. I live my life counter clockwise to the cacophony of our society, where corporate rules and Government rules turn people into sheep and kindness is a word used less and less. Yes tell us why greed overcomes love and hate becomes a weapon of everyday use. Where narcissism, ego, self agendas and evil becomes the norm and killing becomes commonplace.
We all need hope and courage, keeping in mind that humanity needs to become stronger to bring light into this world.
Thank you for sharing, your very benevolent piece of writing.
Very appropriate and very well written

Your words are true and should be easy to understand. But in a world where rich men concern is profit at all cost. We are in trouble. I like what you are saying in this poem. Need a few billion people to stand together to stop oil and war to create income for the rich people. A outstanding poem.

I wish I could tell you why. I've often wondered the same things. This is such a powerful, hopeful piece. I love the way it ends.
