If I could rewrite this story

I've never written a story 

in pencil before - 

always bold, always brave, 

grabbing for pen and ink

before the pages of my last book

had even dried.

Always strong enough 

to simply start a new novel,

if I didn't like the story after all. 

I've never wished 

that I'd simply

grabbed for a pencil, 

instead of ink, 

that I'd be able to erase

an entire novel

from the collection of my life

until I met you. 

So if I could rewrite this story,

I'd write it 

in beautiful colors

and you and I would have never met.

But I can't erase this novel, 

because I didn't grab a pencil back then, 

and my hands will forever

be stained with black ink

and the regret

of having cared for you.
