This Is Where She Appears In The Dark Of Night

A Poem by Wendy Grace

My breath tastes like weed and gin
And the guilt is burning in my throat just like both did

For this stupid thing I might've done
Had I not snapped myself out of it, and come back to my senses

What I felt was fiery desire
Drawing me in like a moth to a fire

Those brown eyes got me again
Sucking me in and making me remember when

We had all those fantastic rebellious sensual times together
Maybe it was the wind or maybe the weather

Or maybe it was just the weed that was making me want us back together.
You fell in love with my flower, not my roots.

And that's why this is where she appears in the dark of night
To remember all the times we had prior to the fights

The love and the passion, our two player game
Left us both burnt down in flames

She appears in the dark of night to remember the times
When his name fit so perfectly in her rhymes.
