Painful Days

Painful Days

A Poem by Snowman Mike

As the days go painfully by,

I do my best to hold my head up high,

At the faintest memory I start to cry,

People stop and wonder why.

A tear for all the good times spent,

A few more for things not meant,

Unable I am now to repent,

I should of mentioned before you went.

The mad times were indeed insane,

We just let loose and didn't refrain,

Now I am left alone with the pain,

Not knowing if I'll see you again.

The subject is a good one but it's a little too rhymey, in some places feeling like you played with the syntax, just to get the rhyme...specifically "I should have mentioned before you went." In the last stanza, first line, the word "where" needs to be changed to "were". Other than that, you had good diction and your intent is clear.
