Gender Relations

Gender Relations

A Poem by Erin Sky
"

I don't quite remember who this was about, if anyone.

"

All was poised, hand raised

a finger, beckoning me thither

But your mom walked in

And stopped our cinematic, enigmatic thing

“It’s love at first sight!

…right?

We were made for each other!

(…there could be no other?)”

This is false, and mostly untrue

whatever it is, it certainly ends in “too.”

But the words that flow and flicker back,

across negative space

Remain hidden, somewhere hiding in grey solace.

Just words, though they may contain the ‘verse

          _ _ _ _ ... _ _ _ _ ... _ _ _ _

Only noises, if not a curse

          _ _ _ _ ... _ _ _ _ ... _ _ _ _

This is far to easy, this is more, is deeper,

          is a far better sleeper.

Could it be, little creeper—

          We are friends?

Not a cliche!
This seemed very fun and well written, if I'm not mistaken it's about someone's mother barging in on her daughter and her daughter's "friend" (hem hem) and then ,
well,
that's where I got lost. But lost in a good way. No, i didn't understand the little dashy lines, what do they mean?
