When You See

When You See

A Poem by Erin Sky
"

this is one of those I wasn't quite sure how to restore, but here's my best guess.

"

Oh I kissed him on the rocks

by the by, by the sea

And a rubbing of my heart was made

     upon that page

(     of hazel hair, unidentified eyes           )

(      a singing voice, a short stature         )

(      and all my mine untrammelled life    )

(     did his lovely face awake                    )

But organs are made of blood and brass,

     how that page was marred

by sticky goo, and muscles, too!

The heart is no pretty thing.

(     a toy, once reunited teardrops            )

(     kicked into a pinkish red boot             )
(     and twisted or inspired into                 )

(     wriggle into unrhythmic quatrains      )

So rip from my breast (the sacred treasure chest)

cover it all in memories of what I will be

because it means so much when you see me for who I am

and not who I want to be.
