Romeo and Juliet ( the final curtain )

Romeo and Juliet ( the final curtain )

A Poem by wordman

The winds of time

blow memories of you

through my mind

A sweeter love,i shall never know

as the winds of time gently blow

the smell of honeysuckle in the air

two young people in love without a care

Forever and always

your love shall be mine

if only in my mind

For I have touched your soul

and you have touched mine

and I will love you till the end of time

The essence of you shall always lay gently on my mind

two souls searching for solace

as we move through time

you have brought me from a boy to a man

and for that I will always be in your debt

and something I will never forget

but fate wasn't kind to you and me

our love could never be

so I will dream of you from time to time

and the essence of you will always be on my mind

Romeo romeo where art thou romeo

I`m in your heart and in your mind

where I will remain until the end of time...

I'll never forget how attached I was to the film Romeo & Juliet (long ago version, circa 1970's). Your poem shows us this attachment & how it transcends whatever may happen on this planet to separate lovers (((HUGS)))

I appreciate that you embedded that vedio clip of the song and movie, I remember seeing it way back when... and your poem is nicely written, capturing both the love of young lovers as well as the tragedy of how social diviisions made love difficult if not impossible.... way to go Ron...

I LOVE THIS POEM, THANKS FOR SHARING. I BELIEVE MANY WILL BE ABLE TO TELATE TO YOUR WORDS. I’VE BEEN PREVIOUSLY TOLD THAT THERE IS A KIND OF BEAUTY IN SADNESS AND YOU HAVE PROVEN IT TO BE TRUE . HSG 😇

but beauty is only skin deep,,thank you
I wonder how many people who know the sad tale of these star crossed lovers have actually read the sad tale? Not as many as have seen the movies or even the plays I betcha. But we know what we know because we know it and it seems we have always known that Juliet was wondering where Romeo was when she soliloquized on her balcony when in fact she was wondering who he was and why he was a Montague.
Doesn't matter to the poem. The poem is wonderfully sentimental and breaks the heart just like the sad tale has done over the centuries.
