Like the Wind

Like the Wind

A Poem by Rayne Stanton
"

...

"

The winds in my hair, making my hair go wild

The breeze caressing my face.

Calm, cool, and quiet.

The night curled around me

But all I need are your arms

To wrap around me and hold me tight

As we sleep together through the night.

You’ve held me,

Touched me,

Kissed me,

And made love to me.

I know you’re gone and I'll always miss you

I blame myself for your death

Though I know the blame is needless.

You’ve died for your country

But you’ve left me lonely.

But don’t cry for me, for I'll soon be free

With the wind in my hair and the breeze in my face

My feet speed up and picked up the pace

My feet left the ground

While I fell down

Down off the cliff

To the water below

So I can feel your arms around me

once more.
