From Here After

It began so warm
The whispering lullabies,
echoed from twittering insects along a summer breeze
Hands held secretly behind a veiled haze
You sighed optimisms for the potential
Saturating my nights with visions of yearning

The winter chill struck rigid
A thrust to the core that deteriorated the wall
Foundations of tenderness, structured to fail

She was beautiful,
your wintery chill of death
The pale desolate skin bled milk along your fingertips
A glance of frosted crystal warmed the arctic breeze
of my hasty departure along the warmer winds
Your breath flushed the bleakness from her cheeks
as murmured endearments were said
A low whine that breeds rigor along the spine of our attachments

The winter drift warmed as fate blew back the spring
Burned till strained from melted dew
A billowing spring, denied by the calamity you breathed in

“Hereafter I declare the execution of spring” you sang
Spouting sonnets that grounded my head
“I sang all false in my declarations of love”, you bellowed
Spring sprang to abruptly, you had not realized what had gone
To committed to the distant chill,
to settle amongst the sun

And so you sprinted,
back to the winter of deceit
The sun bowed out, to shattered to see this complete

And thus the winter brisk shone bright
A bitter stinging fate
The bleakness of an invert existence
of gloom and gripe
A world where spring is spurned,
A world where winter has endured

The coldness and despair move like dark storms through your words... Everything was masterfully done, though these words struck me the deepest:

She was beautiful, your wintery chill of death . The pale desolate skin bled milk along your fingertips

So deep and flawless...

nicely descriptive and beautifully done, my dear Steffi....to me, it's like a tug of war, with the cold and chill of winter not wanting to let go and spring coming forth, not wanting to be denied. just lovely...
