Regret

A Poem by Dizzy-Izzy
"

Rictameter: Rictameter is an unrhymed poetry form consisting of nine lines and 50 syllables constructed as: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 syllables. The first and last line must be the same word.

"

Regret

Silent scourge of

Breaking hearts yours and mine

Apologies insufficient

Love an offering... small but determined

Contrition has a champion

Absolution it's gift

Lifts the weight of

Regret

I am not familiar with this form, but you did a bang up job with it. It is hard to write a good poem in such a restricting form such as this or "Minute" which is a total of 60 syllables.

I know of a form similar to this one where the syllables are laid out 1,2,4,8,16.... and so on... You can take it back down from 16 as well, there is no limitation.... I forget the name of that form.

Great job in conveying the feeling of regret!

I have to tip my hat to such a master of form. Lovely words, too.

Really it is "Regret" that makes you feel so many things...good realization and rendering. Keep it up!
