The Bored Game Risk

The Bored Game Risk

A Poem by Zach Knox

Our relationship was founded

on strategic dishonesty

For the most part that was

fine with me.

You took the high ground

I took the fort

guns blazing we laid wast

spewing forth words that attacked

the eyes like mustard gas

So many bloodied lovers

feel under foot

just so we could keep the metallic

taste of jealousy in our mouths

bodies broken an maimed

we pass the blame

back and forth over dinner

while our lovers in denial

stand out the window in

the depths of winter

but the hold on to the time

we told them they were

of some importance.

I moved south to unleash

my renewed attack;

you attacked my back the

scratch, the scars, and a fallen tear

After the bloody affair

we signed a new non aggression pact

we both gave repentance

All the hearts broke in vain

So peace could be attained

the anniversary maintained

This is a wonderful read, 'all the hearts broken in vain' indeed this seems to be the case. Nicely done Zach

Poetry is my way to cope with the world. I used to write in high school a lot as I was struggling with eating disorder and other mental problems plaguing me. I don't know if it was out of exhaustion.. more..
