A Poem by Zatoichi
"

coming soon to a multiplex near you

"

One day the day came and went like any other.

Yet our hero saw the end in sight and sought

out the orchestra while tracking the shot

from the grassy knoll.

And the Villain, dressed in Burberry fascism,

cut the sidekick down with his

razor-sharp bowler hat.

Our hero sets down his sword

but for a moment, and is caught

off-guard by the soft scent of

Hata Mari.

Reduced to a purring satisfaction,

the sultry spy leaves our hero

spent and handcuffed to the headboard.

He awakens to the sound of a buzz saw

grinding to a halt on his

3" thick stainless steel codfish.

Bursting from his bonds,

our hero slices his way thru the henchmen, confronting

the Villain on the Bridge of Sighs.

They fight, thrust and parry

unto the very edge

where the Villain falls into

the open maw of a great black shark.

And our Hero steps over the bodies

on the way to the House of Chanel

for a little Brazilian-waxed jello bunny

spinning a fast Aston-Martini

on the Gold Coast Riviera Sunset Paradise of Love.

Author's Note

Zatoichi
Silicone Barbie is in the passenger seat,
her long blond hair swept up into the air
as they whip around Deadman's Curve, doing 90
with her top down and our hero driving
straight for the Devil's Hole.

Devil's Hole is an actual place, not just a misogynistic pun. Can't remember where i heard of it so google if you care

This work left me to smile with a certain recognition of the tales told here as the credits do roll on by...

It left me to think as well, how in detailing out Christopher Vogler's mythic structure for a friend ruined almost every book and movie they read after that; realizing that everything had become so formulaic and it was all pretty much the same - just different actors, different settings, but the same old stories.

I had to remind him, knowing now what you know, can you still not enjoy the work for what it is? Can you forget what you know, allowing yourself to slip into that fantasy and be carried away? He said not as much, but with that which he does - he enjoys it even more.

Yes, this piece left me to smile with a certain recognition as the credits did roll... thank you for sharing this. :)

What a compilation of 00her0's. You've generously, humorously, and inventively summed them up into a new role, that best played by Charlie Chapman, or better yet, Peter Sellers maybe Cato could wear the bowler hat. Well thought out and put together.

This is awesome. . . riding off into the sunset with her top down. The cost of that ticket is just priceless.
