Reading and Deliberating

Details

It's easy to make a story with a lot of action seem interesting. If the fate of the world hangs in the balance, people are automatically going to be hanging on your every word--provided, of course, that you don't make the characters too horribly two-dimensional and clich. Stories that are filled with magic or car chases or other such exciting things create their own conflict, but it's easy to depend completely on the idea, or the driving action, or something like that, in such stories.

So write about something mundane, and make it interesting. A short story about a girl cleaning her room, for example, or an English teacher grading papers. Find the most boring, everyday thing you can imagine and try to spice it up!
