About Me

I'm and English Literature/Media graduate doing an MA in Cultural Studies. I don't write as much as I should as I pick the bones out of everything before I finish the first page. I have many short stories and more poetry I would like to finish and get on here so I can see what people think. You review me and I'll give you an honest opinion of your work as soon as I can. Favourite authors are Charles Bukowski, James Joyce, Will Self, Knut Hamsun, William Burroughs, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Hunter S Thompson, Terry Southern, Martin Amis, to name but a few. Not really into contemporary poets much - apart from spoken word like Saul Williams (possibly the greatest ever) and Buddy Wakefield. I see real hip-hop (not the gunz, bling & b*****s nonsense that we are constantly bombarded with) as being possibly the most valid and misrepresented form of modern verse out there. For instance: Buck 65 (his more recent stuff [talkin' honkey blues - situation - square] is like listening to a young Tom Waites rhyming George Bernard Shaw over a scratchy hip-hop/blues beat) and Sage Francis (possibly the finest lyricist alive today [Makeshift Patriot - Runaways - Slow Down Gandhi] and everything's worth a listen). As far as more traditional stuff goes; TS Eliot, the unbelievably underestimated Max Ehrmann (I urge everyone to buy The Desiderata of Happiness) and William Blake. Look forward to hearing from you and returning the criticisms, compliments and code-words. Peace x
