My Reflection

The times I see the sky

All I notice is how they make your eyes

The eyes of someone never seen

You may not know what another’s heart can say

But neither can I

I don’t get to know if you see like I do

The words secretly there are hidden in my heart

Maybe if you listen you’ll hear the words I shout

The pain that I hide

Hidden like the secrets of children

The truths of the people can bring a person to life or to an endless loop

A loop wrapping them in its arms

So caring, so kind

Yet behind shallow eyes

The sky reveals the starry hopes

As I look for the star

You look as well

Yet we never look to each other

It’s as if we’ll break

if we see that what we seek is front of us

The sky fades to the ocean

The ocean sweeps us from reality

I only wished to find you

In the end we looked past each other

All we are is the sky and the ocean

Nothing more than a reflection

I found this sentence the most impacting, at least to me.

This entire poem is impacting. Each sentence holds despairing and hopeful truths. The mix of these two, contradicting ideas sort of shows a love that can never be. And, I love the use of a reflection to convey that. Of course, I could be misinterpreting this poem completely, but those are my thoughts.
