Inspiration Comes At Night

Inspiration Comes At Night

A Poem by Kasey Jones

Inspiration comes at night,
With the glow of the moon
On the quiet, darkened world.

Transformed by the absence of the sun,
The world waits for you to see.
Hurry child, before night is done.

Midnight blue words saturate through the still air
And into your mesmerized head.
To this feeling, nothing can compare.

A poem forms in your mind.
As the stars shine brightly,
Feelings and words become intertwined.

You think no artificial thoughts.
It is as natural as the forest.
You are filled with happiness that can't be bought.

Filling a blank page
Is a gateway to finding your identity.
Day is coming, so quickly set the stage.

The rhythm is off but it's the only way I could get my message across. Is this hard to understand?

I laughed when I read this, because I wrote seven poems last night at 2:30 in the morning. This is too true and to applicable to my life. Really great poem though, I love this! No criticisms, no corrections, it's great as-is!

This poem is so true! I love it. It's wonderfully written, I completely understood it. Wouldn't change a thing about it! Great work!

I love this poem! Many of us writers, myself included, do their best writing at night. In the silent darkness, all is quite 'cept the words in my head.

I really connected with this. I didn't find it hard to understand, that always when inspiration comes to me.

the only thing i would edit woud be "Midnight blue words saturate through the still air" i would just take out through because saturate already means completly soaking or something so i think it flows better without through, but you still say what you were trying to say.... other than that really nice :)

I like this (as is).

If you are worried about the rhythm, then this particular piece need not have a formal one. If it is about midnight musings, then thoughts are unlikely to be in metered staccato. The example below is a 'cover version'. I hope you're not offended by my take on it...

Inspiration
Comes at night,
With the glow
Of the moon
On the quiet-darkened world.

Transformed
By the absence of the sun,
The world
Waits
For you to see.
Hurry child, before night is done.

Midnight blue words
Saturate
Through the still
Air
And your mesmerized head.
To this feeling, nothing can compare.

A poem forms
As the stars shine
Brightly,
Feelings and words
Become intertwined.

You think no artificial thoughts.
As natural as the forest.
You are filled
With happiness
That can't be bought.

Filling a blank
Page
Is a gateway to finding your
Identity.
Day is coming,
So quickly set the stage.

I understand this poem exactly because it describes me perfectly. I get all my inspiration at night usually. I love the rhyme scheme with the occasional ab rhyme or none at all.

I personally really like this. A lot. It's not hard for me to understand because it's how I feel all the time when writing after dark; everything comes alive and words flow more easily. Very inspirational for me - thanks! :)
