Painting the Roses Red

A combination of both the old cartoon and the new movie 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Alice'

(Verse 1)

Once upon a time

This world began

Upon the dreams and fantasies

Of one genius man

With his made up words

And twisted poetry

He created that world

Filled it with ecstasy

 

But the characters came

Into their own minds

His words did not control

Their actions this time

The queen ruled now

In her kingdom of blood

And the only resistance

Was destroyed in a flood

 

(Chorus)

And in one final act of desperation

With the blood and the sweat of a hopeless nation

We gotta meet the demands of the bloody red head

So now we’re painting the roses red

 

(Verse 2)

She follows all traitors

Coated in red

She destroys opposition

“OFF WITH HIS HEAD”

The rest they conform

In fear of Her obsession

Lest the red-hearted villains

Come to teach them a lesson

 

The pressure is high

To do as she commands

The only way is Her way

And in it nobody stands

Secret resistance

Those who are not afraid

Make up an army

White roses their trade

But the followers ratted to the bloody red head

And their blood paints the roses red…

I like all the Alice in Wonderland references :) That was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and the Tim Burton one is amazing as well. The chorus was my favorite part; it sums up the Red Queen quite well.
