The Test Of A Rose

The Test Of A Rose

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

petals fall

"

Silky smooth droplets float to the earth below

A crimson shower begins to flow

Petals fall so gently down

as whispered wishes drift heavenward bound

Starry night and loves sweet wish

Blend together in hopes of a kiss

A petal yes

And a petal no

The last one falls

As I whisper

He loves me more!

the first two lines are such rich, visually vibrant metaphors. Roses are soft and fragrant, yet so vividly sharp and striking at the same time.

the last line, I take possibly a different way than most, it hints ever so subtle at a passion, maybe an ego, accented with an exclamation mark...
perhaps an under current of envy? OR after the last petal falls, it's understood the love is still there even though the flower is no more...Just my takes. Beautiful lines Cherrie

This poem enchants me. I can tell you have a very sophisticated style of writing. Everything from the imagery to the the wording is flawless. It leaves one with a clear image in their mind of what you've described. Again beautifully done.

I can smell sweet rose fragrance as I read the words. Tender words that bim with love particularly the need to be loved. Quality, quality work I feel CP is in the mood to astound! Oscar Wilde would have sent this to Bosey!
