Lark

Lark

A Poem by getinthecarplease

i. Prologue

Come faith in black caverns,

come loss in depressive taverns.

Wraith of madness in a palace of bones

violent echoes on dictator's throne.

Scratch names of the dead on sycamore bark.

Fear dreary days in the haunting era of the lark.

ii. the Metaphysical Magi

Dreams set in a forest infinite with future sights before me.

Flying to gates of heaven, flying to the sea.

Poverty stricken masses cry to the altar god.

Dreams of the ocean, lucidity in the pod.

Malice in the chalice of our guard.

Merely fear on our precarious pier

Metaphysical in the pleasure dome,

undines and naiads in the pond of death

Dreams of the wind of time dreams of fiery wyvern's breath.

Flood of spirits on the islet of sanctity and magi lost on the spiral stair.

Join them in a venture to enlightenment

join them to light the flare.

Blinded mind left behind.

iii. Ontology is a Serpent

Stranger sightings on a rising wave.

Realm mould on the scales and tales of nightingales.

Sold the nightmare, rook to bishop to pawn.

I saw the relinquished morning in his eyes

and lies in scarlet skies.

Equator to eclipse, the raven dies.

Great lord of fire where is the unfolded desire

Sanctum unsung, galaxy is hung.

Lynch the constellation by a serpent's tail.

Ranger ambassador rapes the dusk of our sign.

Sigma and Gamma dead on the fiery knoll.

Feast in the knowledge of soul.

Ontological physiologic meteorology

Spikes on his tale, anger in his eyes, hate in his voice

Porcelain people of infant earth,

he comes to feed on your memories.

He comes to read all the manuscripts, he comes to kill

iv. Humiliation of the Lark

Come futile prayers; lauded lark in the arena of flares

Heaven on earth as angels watch the fortunate birth.

Anoint the respiratory field of scorn

and whet the dagger by which the scars are torn.

Silent spring waits.

Join him in the heavenly glare.

Fly to enlightenment.

Dream to fly.

Fly to the dream.
