Dear Cancer,

Dear Cancer,

A Poem by Holly Mason

         Dear Cancer,
Hello, I know we have met, but my name is Holly. I have a few questions to ask you.
First why did you pick me? Is it because I am a super great friend? Or you just happened
to be flying by one day and said "Oh she looks good". My second question is, do you have a
family? If you do, you should pay attention to them and you wouldn't be so lonely. Third
question is a bit loaded, is there any cure for you? I mean I think you could at least
give a clue. My fourth and final question...why do you exist? Just wondering. I have a
lot of life left in me and I am hoping you change your mind. If you find that you cannot
redo this deal, then I understand. I will let you know (ahead of time) that you have a
fight on your hands. I am coming out fists fully ready and I will not go down easy. You
can take your time or we can have a quick face to face. Your choice. I never said I
would lay down peacefully. You can write me back if you would like. I will even
enclose a pre-addressed pre-paid envelope. I think you have a lot of issues. Do not
mean to be rude but you picked this fight...not me.
                                                        Fighting like a fighter should,
                                                               your nemesis, Holly
P.S. before you pick on anyone else or even think you should....finish the fight with me.
I will be ready anytime ,anyplace , anywhere....leave other folks alone, you twit.
(twit is not what I want to say but I am not a great user of profanity) but you Cancer
are an a--hole. (just sayin')

Very interesting approach to dealing with cancer; the protagonist literally adresses the disease like it's an entity or person. I like the person's attitude in that she's not going to give up without a fight, not to mention how she tells Cancer not to pick on someone else. A great story/poem :)

Very poignant topic Holly. I do not know if this is real or fiction in your life but god bless you either way. I run a prayer group on another site...And I know so many who are battling with terminal cancer. My cousin beat colon cancer only to have it return somewhere else.. My heart aches for all those that battle with this.. bless you for your strength. Huggs!!!! Rose

I was at a poetry reading yesterday, and someone evoked cancer as seeds randomly spread out over the earth... You will be in my thoughts with as much healing energy as I can muster.

I have often said (to God) Id rather have Cancer than depression. This minute I have to admit Im a liar. God bless you Holly - you're more of a man than me. I mean that is the best possible way because you have a special place in my world as one of the most welcoming and friendliest people in the WC.
This is a proper train of thought, no panic, just logic and balls.

Holly love, I have nothing but admiring, and respect for your strength, and beauty. I've been sick myself last year, no cancer though, but another nasty one... and even had a near dead experience, and I just always choose to smile, you're like that too, I saw it in your "about" me a long time ago, yet I prefere, to bring as you always a smile, and enjoy every moment of life, that's why I never talked to you about it before, but with this write, you show us, how strong you are, and I so appreciate that. You're a beauty writer dear. :) I fight with you though, in all. I truly hope you feel better soon, and you are in my thoughts, and wishing you soon well... I trust on you fighter! love and hug! :) X
