Sunday Mornings

An overview of a typical Sunday morning

Clothed in comfort
coffee and toast,
papers and supplements
slow cooking roast.
Pooch getting tetchy
ready for walking,
yesteryear radio
memories talking.
Lawn mowers buzzing
green fingered mums,
kids doing homework
struggling with sums.
D I Y dad's
clueless but willing,
saving a penny
but costing a shilling.
Sunday mornings
played on repeat,
Monday is looming
so put up yer feet.

This is filled with vivid, familiar, & well-crafted details! Even tho so much of this is familiarity, it's also written in a way that's fresh & inviting. Monday comes so quickly that we try to slow Sundays down...and really enjoying the start of it, savoring all of it with that cup of coffee and a good breakfast....and maybe writing a poem or two...nice start.
